Best Web Development Books for Beginners

Let’s face it! Web development is a tricky job. While some of the geniuses make it look like a walk in the park, there are others like me who require a little aid. I always love to refer to physical books than virtual ones and the following were my go-to books when I was just a beginner in the field.

Kyle Simpson’s You Don’t Know JS

There are gazillion books about JavaScript in the market. But what makes You Don’t Know JS by Kyle Simpson special is the simplicity of the language used. I highly recommend this book for beginners as there is literally no other book that explains things in such a simple manner. You Don’t Know JS is infact not a single book, but a series of 6 small books that you can read online or even purchase if you love collecting books like me.

Jon Duckett’s HTML & CSS, and JavaScript & JQuery

These are among the most popular books in the market, and rightfully so. Most programming books are too bland and boring while these books by Jon Duckett have many graphics to explain concepts. So, obviously you don’t need to think twice about buying when there is an interesting graphic filled book on programming. According to me, this is a must-have for every programmer out there.

Marijn Haverbeke’s Eloquent JavaScript (3rd Edition)

Eloquent JavaScript is one of the bestselling JavaScript books currently. You can start with basics and move up to more complex concepts using this book. As opposed to many other books that focus on either the basics or more complex concepts, Marijn Haverbeke’s book offers both. Hence, this will be a good addition to your collection whether you are a beginner or a pro.
The book contains many code examples and mini-projects. The 3 rd edition is updated with ES6 and a chapter on Node.js as well.

Robert Martin’s book basically deals with the importance of working ethically. He  also gives amazing tips on how to excel in your job and make a dream career. The book is written from a software developer’s view but nevertheless, I find it helpful for just about anyone. If you want some insights on how to achieve success in your career, I’d highly recommend this book.
